Transcript of Telephone Call between Charles Balis, M.D. and Mr. George Landau, Monday, June 16, 1997 at 1:30 pm.

Dr. Balis: Hello. Dr Balis speaking.
Mr. Landau: Hello, Doctor. It's George.
Dr. Balis: George. I wasn't expecting to hear from you for another half hour.
Mr. Landau: I'm afraid I want to cancel our appointment today. I'm sorry to give you such short notice.
Dr. Balis: Are you sick?
Mr. Landau: No. I just don't want to come.
Dr. Balis: I thought we had discussed this. The flooding treatment is unpleasant, but it will work.
Mr. Landau: It's not just that. I want to be away from therapy for a while. I want a rest.
Dr. Balis: I really must advise against breaking your routine now. I have enough reservations about our fortnightly sessions.
Mr. Landau: I'm sorry, Doctor, but my mind is made up. I have thought about this for a few days.
Dr. Balis: George, I wish you wouldn't do this.
Mr. Landau: Please don't put pressure on me. I feel bad enough already.
Dr. Balis: Because you know you need to continue with the treatment even if you don't want to.
Mr. Landau: I have to get off the phone.
Dr. Balis: All right, George. But remember you can make another appointment any time you feel ready. And you can still call me at any time.
Mr. Landau: Thanks, Doctor. I really appreciate all you've tried to do for me.
Dr. Balis: You've done the hardest bits yourself. Don't give up, George. We can still work it through.
Mr. Landau: I'll think about it. Bye, Doctor.
Dr. Balis: Goodbye, George.
