Transcript of Telephone Conversation between Charles Balis, M.D. and Ms. Phylis Birch, Monday, December 2, 1996 at 9:10 am.

Dr. Balis: Hello, Dr. Balis speaking.
Ms. Birch: Yes, good morning. Phylis here.
Dr. Balis: Good morning Phylis. What's up?
Ms. Birch: Well, I wanted to get in touch with you to let you know that we--that is Jack and I--have decided to go away for a few weeks.
Dr. Balis: A few weeks? Really? That's rather sudden. When are you leaving?
Ms. Birch: Tomorrow. We have a two-thirty flight out. Actually, it's very exciting. We were talking last night...about our last session with you, in fact. Not that we hadn't discussed it before that, but...anyway, Jack gets this idea that what we need is some time away from the city, away from our daily routines, etc. I agreed, so he immediately jumps on the phone and calls our travel agent. Sometimes they're open Sunday evenings. It's a long story as to why, but we love it. Anyway, he calls and books a flight for Mexico. At this point I'm so flabbergasted that I'm not saying no.
Dr. Balis: Why should you?
Ms. Birch: Work mainly. But I thought about it. This is the slow time for us. Several key personnel are going to be out of town. We don't have new projects starting until next year. Now, I think that it's a wonderful idea. Jack, as you've seen, is certainly well enough to travel. We won't do too many strenuous activities, even if it will be tempting. The bottom line is that I think that this will be good for our marriage. We need to spend some time alone. We have a lot to talk about.
Dr. Balis: I would have to agree with you there. But how will you organize a trip like this so quickly?
Ms. Birch: Leave that kind thing to Jack. He used to travel a lot so he can pack two weeks worth in a little suitcase. I'm running around trying to close up the house and get the mail and newspaper stopped--that kind of stuff.
Dr. Balis: I assume you won't have time to come in for today's appointment.
Ms. Birch: I'm sorry that such a flake about our dates. Things keep coming up.
Dr. Balis: Well send me a postcard from Mexico.
Ms. Birch: Will do. Thanks for understanding.
Dr. Balis: Have fun.
Ms. Birch: I've never been there before. I know I'll have a blast.
Dr. Balis: Best of luck to you both in your adventure.
Ms. Birch: Thanks.
Dr. Balis: I'll see you when you get back.
Ms. Birch: You bet, with tall tales to tell.
Dr. Balis: Bye Phylis.
Ms. Birch: Goodbye Doctor.
