Mr. Bows:
This is Tom Bows. Am I speaking with Dr. Balis?
Dr. Balis:
Hello. Yes. This is he. How may I help you, Mr. Bows?
Mr. Bows:
My wife is missing. I think you are responsible.
She has not been acting like...
Dr. Balis:
Can you calm down please, Mr. Bows? Sylvia is missing?
Since when?
Mr. Bows:
Sylvia didn't come home last night. She's been acting
very strangely the last couple of days. I think it was the drugs you gave
her. If something happens to Sylvia, I will hold you personally responsible
Dr. Balis.
Dr. Balis:
Do you think something has happened to your wife? Have
you contacted the police?
Mr. Bows:
No. I don't think the police would be appropriate right
now.
Dr. Balis:
Why is that, Mr. Bows?
Mr. Bows:
I think my wife is going through a nervous breakdown. I think
she was very fragile when she came to see you. But instead of support
and maybe gentle tranquilizers, you gave her this...this drug. Sylvia
started to behave completely out of character. She even started to dress
irresponsibly. I cannot talk to her. Her behavior--forgive me Doctor--is
that of a whore. A prostitute. I hope she has not already done something
that she will regret for the rest of her life. I would not hold her responsible,
of course.
Dr. Balis:
Of course.
Mr. Bows:
But I am afraid of the damage it might do to her. Her work.
Her reputation. Our lives. Doctor, you have to talk to her. Make her
realize that she is sick. Maybe make her go away somewhere for
a few days. Weeks. She needs the rest. She has been under a lot of pressure
lately. Somewhere where she could be looked after and taken care of.
Dr. Balis:
You want me to put Sylvia in a psychiatric hospital?
Mr. Bows:
Exactly! I knew you would understand.
Dr. Balis:
I do, Mr. Bows.
Mr. Bows:
Good. I'll make sure Sylvia calls you when she gets home.
Thank you Doctor.
Dr. Balis:
Goodbye, Mr. Bows. Please do have Sylvia call me when
she gets in. I would like to know that she is home safely.
Mr. Bows:
I will, Doctor.
