Ms. Evans:
Doctor Balis? This is Cassandra Evans.
Dr. Balis:
Yes, Cassie. What can I do for you? Don't we have an appointment
later?
Ms. Evans:
That's what I'm calling about. I am afraid I can't
make it today. I am not feeling well at all. In fact, I missed work
yesterday and am calling in sick again today. Gosh, I hope I don't lose
my job. I can't afford that right now.
Dr. Balis:
I understand. Do you want to reschedule an appointment
for next week?
Ms. Evans:
Yes. I am so very upset. I have been crying all night.
I wish I could make the pains in my body go away. I think I am just in a
rut--emotionally and physically worn out.
Dr. Balis:
I think we need to address some of your physical maladies.
If you're up to it, I'd like you to see a colleague of mine, Doctor Doug
Halsey. He's an internist and participates in your HMO. Perhaps he can
help us figure out what's wrong.
Ms. Evans:
I don't know. I really don't think I am up for that right
now. Though I am in a desperate way. Okay. I'll get his number from CalaCare's
booklet. By the way, I spoke to my last doctor. He said he would check
his files and send anything he thought pertinent. He didn't sound too willing
to help out. I guess it's because the last insurance company gave him
a lot of troubles.
Dr. Balis:
Maybe I'll have better luck talking with him. You signed
a release, right?
Ms. Evans:
Yes. I am really sorry for all the troubles I have
caused you.
Dr. Balis:
Nonsense. Just try to feel better, and I'll see you next
week. If you need to talk earlier than that, please call.
Ms. Evans:
Thanks, Doctor. Bye.
