I would like to explore that with you and see if we can come up with some solutions which would make you happier either with who you are or who you are going to become. Please don't be alarmed at the personal nature of this communication. I won't try to discover your identity. Your pictures have been highly communicative--filled with meaning. But I'm afraid that I've only been able to witness your pain and I have been powerless to do anything about it. So please let me start to know you so that we can explore the things that make you unhappy together. Usually, I ask my patients about their family and their childhood. A couple of your images seemed to be about your family--there was a Thanksgiving scene and some Victorian children in the presence of giants. Were those images about your family? Can you tell me about your parents and your siblings? I also want you to know that you are welcome to keep sending your highly artistic images. I missed the one that you normally send on Wednesday. The images make me feel that I already know you. And I think they probably help you sort out how they feel. ----- Charles Balis, M.D. |
