Transcript of 27th Session between Charles Balis, M.D. and Ms. Anna Green, Thursday, January 9, 1997 at 4:35 pm.

Ms. Green: Hello Doctor. I'm so terribly sorry.
Dr. Balis: Hello Anna. My guess would be that you were at MacWorld and lost track of time. I'd just about given up on you.
Ms. Green: That's exactly where I was and when I realized it was getting late it was already four o'clock and by the time...
Dr. Balis: It's okay Anna. I got the general SII e-mail announcement. Frankly I'm surprised to see any of my patients this week.
Ms. Green: Thank you for being so understanding.
Dr. Balis: So did you see anything good?
Ms. Green: A few things. I saw the BE booth. I was a little disappointed to see them lose out to NeXT. My department got the BE Box as an early Christmas present. Each year SII gets us some new technology that we want to play with...I mean within reason of course. But I don't really know what you would be interested in Doctor. I sort of go and look for ideas, check-out trends, look up old friends. This is the time when all the geeks come out and play together.
Dr. Balis: That's not very kind and I never thought of you as a geek.
Ms. Green: I try very hard to keep my inner geek hidden.
Dr. Balis: I see. You're doing a fine job there Anna.
Ms. Green: Thank you, thank you.
Dr. Balis: You're in exceptionally good spirits--so what old friends have you been seeing lately?
Ms. Green: Doctor are you implying that I need a good fuck every now and then to keep my spirits up? Well I won't deny it!
Dr. Balis: So who is it?
Ms. Green: I ran into Martin the first day of the show. It was at the end of the day and most people had left already. I turned around and there he was staring at me.
Dr. Balis: Martin?
Ms. Green: Sorry Doctor. You always seem to remember everything so I just assumed that you would...
Dr. Balis: Sorry Anna, it just doesn't ring a bell. When did we talk about him?
Ms. Green: It must have been when we just started. He was sort of my only very slight indiscretion when I was with Bill. Remember?
Dr. Balis: I think I do now. A graduate student you met in New York on the conference. Right?
Ms. Green: That's it. Well he is all grown up now.
Dr. Balis: Is he still in school?
Ms. Green: Martin is almost done. In fact he was offered a job at Vertigo Technology Inc. They do 3D animation and he was going to develop some new rendering technology for them.
Dr. Balis: Very impressive.
Ms. Green: Oh he is Doctor. And he is as nice as I remembered. I wished I had dumped Bill at the time and took Martin up on his offer. My whole life...
Dr. Balis: Anna you basically just met this guy. You've seen him in New York a couple of years ago for a few days and now what? It's been a whole two and a half days? Don't you think it's a bit premature to make these kind of pronouncements?
Ms. Green: Perhaps. But I'd known Bill for a lot longer and look where it got me. Plus I don't really have a lot of time.
Dr. Balis: What do you mean?
Ms. Green: He is supposed to fly back to Michigan on Friday night right after the show ends.
Dr. Balis: Oh.
Ms. Green: I'm trying to talk him into staying through the weekend. He can try to take a stand-by and he could stay with me for the extra couple of nights--you wouldn't believe just how much hotels in San Francisco run over a weekend stay!
Dr. Balis: I thought he was doing really well.
Ms. Green: He was offered the job...in fact he was offered a whole bunch of jobs all over the U.S.
Dr. Balis: I see. So?
Ms. Green: But he is still just a student now. He needs to graduate first.
Dr. Balis: And when is that?
Ms. Green: Probably this Summer. Maybe Fall. You sound like my father.
Dr. Balis: I'm sorry. I'm just a bit concerned. I hope you'll have a good time together this weekend.
Ms. Green: Oh we will. I have plans!
Dr. Balis: Uh huh.
Ms. Green: In fact I've got to run. Martin is waiting for me outside in the lobby. We are going out for dinner and then...who know?
Dr. Balis: Well, it is getting late.
Ms. Green: Precisely. I don't want to keep you Doctor.
Dr. Balis: Maybe I'll come down and see the show. SII sent me a free pass.
Ms. Green: Good. I hope you'll like it Doctor.
Dr. Balis: Maybe I'll run into you there.
Ms. Green: Maybe. Well goodbye. I'll see you next week. Same time, same place?
Dr. Balis: Yes. Next Thursday at four. Take care of yourself Anna.
Ms. Green: I will Doctor. Have a good weekend and I'm really sorry again for coming in so late.
Dr. Balis: Sure. Goodbye.
